The Ranch - salt lake family photographer

You may remember these faces from this post not too long ago.

After she saw the pictures, "Avo" asked if I would come up and take some pictures at her Ranch in Peoa.
I had heard about the Ranch and how special it was to the kids,
so I was excited to capture their relationships in this beautiful place that they love.

We added some new faces from the extended family into the mix...

And we captured lots of love and lots of fun

We captured the essence of the Ranch...

brand new baby goats and all...

I was there to witness (with complete amazement) this barely 4 year-old boy riding a bike without training wheels. And one picture just isn't enough to describe the moment, so it became a storyboard.

and finally, we captured this moment...
which speaks to me on a sweet emotional level
because it is all about exploring the world together.
There is a lot of beauty in this world if we just take the time to look and see.

Thank you for inviting me into your home to share in this special place!

My Baby - salt lake family photographer

This is my new baby (and that is me there in the background).

She is delightful to shoot with...although she is taking some adjustment to get used to.
But any way you look at it, I love her!

I have been working her overtime between kids in soccer and swimming lessons and everyday shooting, but I wanted to take her out for a test shoot before I did any "professional" work with her.

So I loaded up my brood and we headed to the Great Salt Lake.
(You can read more about our trip on my family blog.)
And I snapped away.
The light was far from perfect because things never go quite as planned
when you are photographing your own kids, but the results were beautiful.

Now is the perfect time for beach sessions out at the GSL, so if you would love some beach pictures of your family, I do still have a few openings for sessions in August at the discounted pricing.
Make sure you call and book before August 1, though!

Love is Happy - salt lake portrait photographer

I was able to photograph another darling updo and makeover for my FABULOUS hair-dresser earlier this week...and I am wishing she could do MY hair and makeup every day!

This was the practice run for the wedding up-do, and I must say,
this girl makes being in love look just the way it does in the movies...happy!

Not only is she beautiful and smiley, she lived in my neighborhood growing up so it is even more exciting to see her all grown up and getting married!

Wishing you a wonderful road ahead K...even if it does include cinderblock walls! ;)

Counting down the days...salt lake portrait photographer

Introductory pricing will be ending on August 1, 2010
for session dates through September 15, 2010.

Availablility is limited to 1 or 2 sessions a week and I am already booked through late July,
so call (801.560.3634) or email soon to reserve your date.

In order to simplify my pricing, all package sessions (which include a disc of digital files) will be discontinued as of August 1. However, digital files and session discs will still be available for purchase.

And now that the business is out of the way, I can't help but add a few thoughts. This journey of professional photography has been so rewarding for me! Of course, I love capturing the lives of my own sweet family, but each time I do a session, I am just overjoyed to see you and your children and your family interact together and enjoy each other! Your reactions to the pictures from your sessions get me all emotional and giddy and thrilled that I can capture the little pieces of your life that define you. I am passionate about what I do and I am so grateful to family, friends, colleagues and especially clients who have supported me every step of the way!

Thank you for joining in, following along and being a part of it!

old friends - salt lake children's photographer

My favorite kind of friends are the ones with whom you can pick up right where you left off...every single time you see them. You might see them once a month or talk to them every day or they might live on the other side of the country, but spending time with them is happy and familiar and wonderful.

The Manwaring family is just this for me (and my kids). Sadly, they do live a whole country away from us, but they were here for a visit this week and I got to take their pictures.

This little guy isn't as little as I remember, but still just as wonderful...

And this little miss seems so grown up...

And the one on the way is sure to be just as wonderful...

This beautiful momma inspires me to be better in so many ways.

To cherish the good...

And embrace the not so good...

To teach them to explore...

and to play...

and to love...

And, I made her pose for some maternity shots...because we are friends and I can do that!
Loved seeing you! You are beautiful in every way!

Click click click - salt lake city children's photographer

I don't have any sisters and my brothers are much younger than me,
so my kids kind of get jipped when it comes to cousins on my side.
But lucky for them, and me, I have some fabulous cousins
whose kids are the same age as mine
and we get together often for fun adventures.

And when we try to get them together
so we can take a picture of the special relationship they have,
we get this...

and so we keep on clicking, and doing chicken dances by the camera,
and making faces, and playing peek a boo...
click, click, click
and eventually, if we are lucky, we may get something as fabulous as this...

and then when the big kids clear out, this little stink just oozes cuteness...
and so we keep on clicking.

Capturing Relationships - salt lake family photographer

When it comes down to it, the most important things in life aren't really things at all.
They are the relationships we have with the people we love.

When I got the call about taking pictures for the Gowans family I was thrilled.
Not only because they are dear friends, but because of what they wanted to capture.
This session was about the relationship between two adoreable little guys and their Avo (grandma) and their mom. How often these sweet relationships go unrecorded because we don't think to pull out the camera or because we are always behind the camera and those sweet moments that you never want to forget just slip by...too quickly.

But they didn't want to let the moments slip away...
so we captured them instead.

And it started with a mother and a daughter
