I'm Back!!! Last Chance Salt Lake Special

My little lady is getting bigger. Following in the footsteps of her older siblings, she has outgrown 0-3 month clothes at a mere 5 weeks and is sporting some seriously adorable chipmunk cheeks and a pudgy little double chin. Everywhere we go, people (including me) just want to squish her little chubs!

A not-so-newborn baby also means that my maternity leave is quickly drawing to a close. I have been pulling out the camera to capture life more and more lately and every time I do I get that giddy feeling that comes from doing something you absolutely love! As such, I am so excited to announce that I am now scheduling sessions for July 18th and beyond!

In light of our upcoming move, I will only be able to schedule sessions through August 6. I know that is a pretty small window of opportunity, so to make up for limited availability, I am sweetening the deal with a Last Chance Special for my wonderful clients here in Salt Lake.

While I am extremely passionate about providing you with gorgeous prints to display in your home, the timeline of our move will make the logistics of print orders complicated, so I have decided to offer an  all-inclusive session for $350 which will include a disc of the images from your session released for printing any size! (If you would like to order prints, they will still be available, however the turnaround will be longer).

In addition to being a great savings, this is likely the last opportunity to get smileabunch photography images for your Christmas Card. I will try to accommodate as many clients as possible, but I know that my schedule will fill up quickly, so contact me as soon as possible if you want to schedule! 

As I have mentioned before, I am so very grateful to my clients here in Salt Lake who have made my first year in business so enjoyable! I have loved getting to know you and your families and will be ever grateful that you have invited me into your lives to capture such sweet and special moments. I have some fun things in store for smileabunch photography later this year (extreme makeover edition!) and I hope you will continue to stay in touch here on the blog, on the facebook page or by email. Salt Lake will always be "home" to me and I will continue to schedule sessions when I come back to visit (frequently)!

I am so excited to share some pictures from the spring mini sessions with you!

As usual, you never know what spring in Salt Lake City is going to bring your way, and unfortunately, what it brought was rain and snow on the day of spring minis. So after some rescheduling and lots of flexibility (shout out to the coolest clients ever!) we scheduled for a day that was supposed to be sunshine and warmth. It was mostly sunny and warm, but the weather sure had me worried that morning!

Thanks to all of you for sharing your families with me in celebration of spring! 

This shot was completely unscripted...which is exactly what I love most about it. From the second you see these two together, you can tell that this little lady loves her brother like crazy!

Just have to make myself tall enough to see!

(note for moms everywhere: dad was standing just outside of the frame...
we wouldn't want any little people taking a spill in the icy river during our sessions)

He was so excited to get his picture taken and asked me to take a picture of his hand. I'll tell you what...if a kid that cute asks me to take a picture of something, you better believe I am going to do it!

Spring Mini-Sessions 2011 - Salt Lake City

I am so excited to announce the smileabunch photography spring mini-sessions! Partly because that means that the flowers are blooming and the grass is getting greener and partly because I have been fielding many requests for mini-sessions since the last sessions in the fall!

These sessions are perfect to show off those adorable Easter outfits, to get some fun shots to give to Grandma or Mom for Mother's Day, or just a fun way to celebrate the arrival of SPRING! If you are a subscriber to the specials and promotions email list, then you already know the details, have had a few days of priority booking and even got a special subscribers-only discount - WOO HOO! - but if you aren't a subscriber yet, this post is for you! This is me and my big belly...26 weeks along and moving into the third trimester...

I am still feeling pretty good, which is awesome because there is a lot on my to do list right now! My maternity leave starts 2 short months from today which means there are a couple of things you might want to know...

• If you are interested in a spring session complete with sunshine, green grass, flowers, and budding trees, I only have a couple of sessions available before I start maternity leave on May 2.

every mom thinks her kids are the cutest - salt lake city children's photographer

Yep, it's true...and I am certainly no exception!

So for my Valentine's Day post today, I am going to share with you three of the

most adorable little faces I have ever seen!

 

That's right...most adorable little faces ever (and of course I am not biased or anything)! ;)

Important Note: This was the MOST frustrating session I have ever done 

(the ones with my own kids always are)! Just wanted to make that clear in case you had any 

crazy notions about my kids being incredibly well-behaved in front of the camera. lol!

It was truly a miracle that we got some great shots! Thank you heart sucker bribery!

Don't Say Cheese! - salt lake city children's photographer

In a session with me you will probably never hear the words "say cheese"...

unless you say them...or if I am saying them to prove a point.

I prefer to capture your natural smile, expression and emotion, 

than the rehearsed smile that you practice in front of the mirror or 

the canned smile you get from your kids every time you pull out the camera.

The older the subject is, the harder it is to break through to the natural smile, expression and emotion,

and this handsome guy was no exception. I can't say I blame him...

being in front of the camera is certainly not the most comfortable place to be.

But I am so glad we got through all the cheesy silliness, talking in accents, and knock knock jokes

so that we could capture this...

This sweet girl did her Valentine's pictures as a gift for her fiance and it was so fun to capture her with that in mind! It was also completely awesome to have such a cooperative subject!

This little 6 week old guy was not so sure about getting his picture taken at first, 

but once we got him situated on the heart pillow he was happy as can be!

He even flashed a little baby smile, just to let  us know!

Valentine's Day Photobooth Sessions: Just a few spots left!

I have been having SUCH a blast finding pink and red props for the Valentine's Day Photobooth coming up! I don't know what it is about all these hearts and sparkles and pinks and reds, but something inside of me just can't resist adding them to my little (or not so little) collection of Valentine's Day fun! My next project is a red and pink valentines tutu...and yes, I will have tutus and pettiskirts available for your little princesses to wear for their shoot!

See what I mean...I just can't resist the pink and red combination!

Then I think we will need to make my very favorite sugar cookie recipe (mmmm....seriously amazing...and so much easier than the recipe I grew up with) with a bunch of new cookie cutters that I just couldn't resist from Target's dollar section. Is it just me...or does anyone else end up spending a LOT more than a dollar every time they explore Target's dollar section?

And finally...for the sake of a little business....

I have just a few sessions left! I am so excited about the sessions that are scheduled...it just makes my heart do little happy dances hearing about the cute ways that people plan to use the images from this session!

Grab your sweetheart! Valentine's Photobooth Sessions are coming up!

Confession: I am head over heels in LOVE with Valentine's Day!

Every year, I celebrate the wearing of the pink and red for 2-3 weeks...sure some may think that is a little bit of monochromatic overload for 3 weeks, but since my closet is packed full of both colors anyway, it is no biggie for me! I love to bake heart shaped sugar cookies and glob them up with pink frosting and red sprinkles! I love stuffing envelopes with cute little valentine's and treats to send to my kiddos classmates! I love the lost tradition of delivering secret valentines on doorsteps! I love getting a gorgeous bouquet of gerber daisies from my sweet husband and (of course) going on a special date with him.

Valentine's day is pretty much my favorite holiday ever!

Last year, I decided that spiderman/spongebob/cheesy mcCheaserson valentines were just not for this little family of mine, so instead we set up a photobooth in our livingroom, had the little man write his valentine's message on a heart he cut out himself, and snapped some pictures of his cute little self holding his personalized valentine. Then I designed a digital valentine, had 4x6 prints made and he signed each one personally. We sent them to grandparents and aunts and uncles as well, and they got TONS of compliments!

So, this year, I want to spread the LOVE! I will be holding a one day Valentine's Photo Booth so you and your family can give Valentine's that actually make an impact this year instead of boring old spiderman who doesn't get a second glance before he makes his way right from the valentine box into the trash can...wait who was this candy from?

What if you don't have anyone who is part of the preschool/elementary school valentine exchange? No problem...these sessions would be perfect for teens to have taken with their BFF or to give out to their peeps or post on facebook so their friends can see just how awesome they are! They would also be perfect to remember that adoreable new fling you are dating...or the adoreable fling you have been dating for a while! And to you lovebirds who just happen to share the same last name and occupied ring fingers...when was the last time you had pictures taken of the two of you being sappy/cheesy/silly/adoreable? Can't remember? Thought so...make your appointment, drag your husband in here and I promise I will make it painless! (Yes, I know I am assuming that you are a woman...if you are a man and reading, don't be offended, it is just that men don't typically do the picture scheduling, but feel free to prove me wrong...I bet it earns you brownie points!!)

You read that right...it is only $30 and you will have your images before Valentine's Day! Brynn is going to be a chocolate cupcake with sprinkles,

Chloe is going to be a pinkalicious cupcake,

Morgan is going to be a gingerbread man,

and Seth and I will be the pastry chefs!

If you have checked out my galleries lately, you have probably noticed these cute pettiskirts popping up in my pictures. I am getting ready to order fabric for some custom orders I am making for some colleagues and thought I would see if anyone else is interested before I place the order.

They are $55 (going rate for similar skirts on etsy is $65), regardless of size, and you can choose any color (or color combination) you like. They are the really full, long, twirly pettiskirts made of soft non-fraying material.
